Jim Jordan Gives Poetry Reading at School Alumni Reunion

May 16, 2013 I was invited to give a poetry reading at the Gans, Oklahoma School Alumni Reunion. While I didnt' graduate from Gans High School, I did attend there in the 8th grade in 1967-68. Due to the wonders of Facebook, I have reconnected with some of my former classmates and was asked by someone on the Reunion Committee if I would present a reading of some of my poetry to this year's reunion. It was an honor to get the chance to share some of my work as a writer with them. I would like to thank my classmate and dear friend Karen Brant-Hibdon for the invitation. I had a great time.

Dracula's Journal

At last the full story can be told… In 1897, using the letters and journals of Jonathan Harker and Mina Murray-Harker, and those of their dear friends, Irish born author Bram Stoker published the major events of tale in his book “Dracula”. When it was first published, in 1897, Dracula was not an immediate bestseller, although reviewers were unstinting in their praise. Most of Victorian England felt it was simply a good yarn, but had they known it was not a work of fiction, but in fact an accurate account of real events, who knows the outcome. Perhaps Mr. Stoker was convinced by those involved; Jonathan and Mina, Dr. John Seward, Arthur Holmwood, Quincey Morris, and Professor Abraham Van Helsing, that the world was not yet ready for the truth behind the tale. They kept one final piece of the story to themselves without sharing its secrets. It has been kept in a vault unseen these many decades until now. DANCE OF THE DIVINE

I have a new poetry book out called Dance of the Divine. It is dedicated to my wife Jan who dances the divine dance with me each and every day.

The Dance of the Divine is one each of us does every day
of our lives. It is the Divine Dance of life itself. It is the
beginning, the middle, and the end of all that we encounter.
It is the journey of joy and happiness, laughter and love,
as well as pain and heartache, suffering and loss.

It is also a spiritual journey that leads us on a search of
who we are and how we fit into the grand scheme of the
great cosmos.

Our ballroom is the universe, and our universe is but a
molecule of something greater than we can imagine.

We are energy, vibrating
and dancing; electrons and neutrons – man and woman,
engaged in the Dance of the Divine.
